My uncle celebrated 85 years of life last week. He's in good health and hopes to live many more.
I thought of joking with him by saying, "Race ya to 100!" It occurred to me that all he would have to do to win is stay in the race.
Today's message is simple. I want to encourage you to stay in the race and don't ever give up. Of course there will be a mix of abundance and lack, mountaintop moments and dark valleys. What life worth living wouldn't have all of that?
Let each season come and then let it go. Trying to hang on to what has passed or keeping life on hold for what hasn't happened yet are unneccessary sources of pain and suffering. Stay right here, accepting what is true in this moment, and just keep going, giving your very best to what matters today. That's all you and I have anyway.
The day by day journey itself is the prize, not the final destination. Giving up isn't an option because you win by default if you don't quit or check out.
If my uncle lives fifteen more years, the victory is what happens in those fifteen years, not achieving the milestone itself.
I don't know what you're dealing with personally, in addition to (or because of) all that's going on in the world right now. But if you will just stay in the race, you will win. We can all finish strong.
Today, this very moment, is one more victory for the record books. I'm grateful you're sharing it with me.

explanation about mindfulness just before that.
