Hard times reveal our true selves, even the parts we may have hidden from everyone, including ourselves.
Obstacles and dead ends will reveal new seedlings ready to be watered and sprout, so we can shine anew. They may reveal areas to heal and grow, so we can do the necessary work and then shine anew.
You see how this works? In every situation we shine anew!
The only way we don’t shine forth in new ways is if we ignore what these gifts are trying to bring ... if we label this a tough year instead of calling it a year of gifts, and meaning it.
Please listen to that still small voice and if you aren’t doing this already, it’s time to wake up. Please open your eyes and hearts so that you can have more gifts than you could ever count.
The year 2020 and especially this pandemic are blessing many of us in unexpected and yes, HARD ways. Are you willing to start finding the gifts, if you haven’t already?
Why? Because it beats the alternative. Because it feels better seeing it that way. Because it really is true, if we're willing to look at things differently. Because we can let this season be life-changing for us and that means it will impact our entire circle of influence and thus, affect generations to come. That's a big deal, right?
I wrote this on Sunday, after taking a prayer, praise and worship, grief and gratitude filled meditation walk. Sometimes crying, sometimes smiling and singing, I received a much-needed attitude elevation. A walk in nature and a few songs really can do all that. If you need some help changing your vision, start with a walk outside.
Thank God for higher perspectives that come when we're willing to end our pity parties and see what’s good about life exactly as it is right now. The more gifts we're willing to see, the more gifts we're going to receive.
An artist/writer friend of mine,
Rita J. Maggart, shared a poem with me that she wrote in April, and I want to end today's short meditation with it. May it touch you and help you ... see. (Scroll down below, past
tomorrow's LIVE event announcement and the painting of the week.)
