Hello FTG Friends! When you read this, I will be
traveling home from my first women's retreat, Paint, Paddle & Play! Thanks to technology, I can still make sure you have something in your inbox from me today. Please enjoy one of my favorite FTG meditations written at the beach and I'll be back next week in real time.
This is from March 13, I am not that different.
Still on vacation, I look around here at the beach at the thousands of footprints in the sand. Hundreds of thousands of people have walked this path before us. Hundreds of thousands will walk it after us.
We are not so unique in our lives, but our egos tell us otherwise—from one extreme to the other:
I'm special.
The rules don't apply to me.
I'm better than so and so.
I’m glad I don’t have to live like them.
I hurt more.
I have less.
I have more troubles than anyone else.
Why did that have to happen to
me?
Life isn’t fair.
Life is hard.
None of us are saying anything new that hasn’t been said for centuries before!
When I view myself as separate, as
better or worse than everyone else, I am missing the enormous serenity of community that is mine when I view myself as one of my fellows. One of all those who have come before me, and all who will come after. I am just one of the entire human race. How is that for a bigger perspective?!
Our problems are not unique. We just have to get the lessons
and move on to the next one. Enjoy every second of this precious, brief time we have here on earth. Love out loud. Say grace (Thank you) and amen (This is plenty). Stop whining and start singing! Embrace what we love and let the rest go! Open our hearts. Open our minds. Open our arms. Life doesn’t have to be so complicated.
